The advanced Water Mist fire suppression system is based on proven, highly effective technologies which offers many operational advantages. For example, it offers 24 hour automatic detection and suppression; ideal in a busy kitchen which may be left inadvertently unattended whilst cooking is in progress. Many commercial kitchens operate long hours and are staffed with people untrained in fire fighting. It only takes a few seconds for a high-temperature, deep fat fryer to flare up and cause substantial damage and down time which can be avoided with an Ultra system. This system offers minimal post discharge clean up, rapidly allowing the kitchen to be returned to full operation — essential for today's fast moving catering industry.
Water Mist
Water Mist uses approximately 90% less water than a conventional sprinkler system and is much favoured in extreme operating conditions such as industrial fryers and ovens. Water mist consists of very small droplets between 10 and 200 microns in diameter which rapidly vaporise in the flames and on overheated surfaces, the water droplets expand into steam which starves the fire of oxygen and absorbs heat energy (one litre of water mist produces 1760 litres of steam and absorbs 2257 kJ of energy). This combined inerting and cooling effect is supremely efficient in extinguishing the flame. Water mist also blocks radiated heat to prevent spread of fire.
